I have tried using my stainless steel shaker for cocktails 3 or 4 times but I cant get past the metal taste it adds to my drinks. Is there something I can use to coat it or some thing I can use to clean it to remove that?

if you coated it in something like plastic it would remove that taste, but would also not allow the ice to chip and shake as well, and would add other flavors you would probably not care for either
your best bet is to get a glass cocktail shaker, which are usually a little more expensive, but also last a long time unless you drop them and will impart less flavors to the drink.
they range anywhere from $20-$100, so just make your choice.
